Lemonrice/ chitranna


Lemon rice is  widely prepared in South India. Basically it's a simple rice dish  which is  flavoured with lime juice and peanuts n lentils mixture .You make this with freshly cooked rice or even with leftover rice.this peanuts n lentils mixture gives a crunchyness to this sour rice. Serve lemon rice with some side like papads ,achar or raita. You can  also made this for Lunchbox. So  here is the recipe 😊
Ingredients:-
4 cups of cooked rice
2 tbsp of lemon juice
1 tsp of mustard seeds
1 tsp of chanadal
2 dry red chilly
2 green chilies
10-12 Curry leaves
1 pinch of Hing (Asafoetida)
1/2 tsp of haldi (turmeric powder)
1/4 cup peanuts
2 to 3 tbsp ghee
Salt as per your taste
Method:-
Heat  ghee in a pan,add mustard seeds. Let them crackle n then add peanuts,chana dal to it. On a low flame, saute them .then add Curry leaves , dry red chilly n  green chilies. Saute them for some seconds.then switch off the flame n add turmeric powder n asafoetida.mix well.now pour the Rice into this mixture.Add lemon juice n salt.mix well .now it's ready to serve 😊
Note:-
Check the taste and add more lemon juice and salt,if you want . Keep it covered for the flavors to blend for few minutes.
