Tomato khajuri khatta


Tomato khajuri Khatta/ Tomato & dates instant pickle....a tangy and delicious side dish from Odisha. At Every Odia home , tomato khajuri Khatta is a must have in the menu for every special occasion.. Even every Temple has this this delicacy as a mandatory inclusion in their Prasad list ..the perfect combination of sweetness & sourness..

Ingredients:-
15-20 dates
3 medium sized tomato cut into small pieces
2 green chillies chopped into pieces
1inch finely chopped Ginger
1 tsp punch-phutana
50gm jaggery /Sugar
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp redchilly powder
1 tbsp jeera Lanka gunda (roasted cumin and red chilly powder Read more)
2 tsp of oil
Salt to taste
Some coriander leaves
Some curry leaves

Method:-
Heat a fry pan in medium heat and then add the oil.
Add the punch-phutana & curry leaves,and let them splutter.
Then add green chillies n ginger and mix it and fry.
Add tomato fry for a minute. Then add turmeric powder, salt, redchilly powder,dates, jaggery and mix it properly.
Add a little water and leave it until tomato is cooked properly and gravy is thick .
Sprinkle some Jeera Lanka gunda & coriander leaves and serve.
