Khechudi/ Khichdi


Rathyatra is going on now, Me and my husband decides that we won't eat non-veg for this 10 days. So today I am not sure what to cook for lunch , specially because of weekend. For us  weekends lunch means it has to be something special & for sure it should be non-veg and  today for me it is quite difficult to decide the menu for lunch . So I asked my husband for suggestions, he immediately asked me to cook some khechudi & dalma. This sweet khicdi is a satvik food made with out garlic n onions. So here is the recipe ☺️.

Ingredients:-
Yellow Split Moong Dal - 1/2 cup
Rice - 1½cup
Bay Leaves - 2
Grated Ginger - 2 tsp
Salt - As per taste
Turmeric - 1 tsp
Sugar - 3 tbsp
Grated Coconut - 1/4 cup
Water - 3 cups
Ghee  - 3 tbsp
Cinnamon stick- 1 
Cardamom (green)-2
Black pepper-4/5

Method:-
Roast the yellow Split Moong Dal until the dal are golden.Heat the pressure cooker, and add the ghee.Then add all the dry masala( khada masala) to the ghee and saute till the flavor gets into the ghee.Add t Dal and Rice and saute for 1 min.Then add grated ginger, turmeric, salt and sugar and mix gently.after that add water and the grated coconut.Cover the lid and let it cook for 1 whistle on low flame.
